A Gemini in Chrome auto browse alternative that works outside the US
Gemini in Chrome is Google’s assistant built directly into the Chrome browser. Its auto browse feature can carry out tasks on websites for you, but it needs a Google AI Pro or AI Ultra subscription and, at the time of our check, it is available in the US only. Tabrein is an AI browser agent that you add to Chrome as an extension. It is not limited to the US and does not need a Google AI subscription. Here is how the two compare. Gemini, Chrome and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners.
| Tool | Where it works | Price to start | Models | Approvals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tabrein | Chrome 116+ on macOS, Windows and Linux, through an extension; not limited to the US | Free to install with 200 free credits; plans from $9/month or one-time packs from $5 | Claude models by Anthropic via Amazon Bedrock; Fast and Smart speeds | Asks before paying, sending, posting, deleting or submitting; Tabrein Guard holds what the page would send until you allow it |
| Gemini in Chrome | Built into Chrome; auto browse is available in the US only | Auto browse needs Google AI Pro ($19.99/month, 20 tasks/day) or AI Ultra ($249.99/month, 200 tasks/day) | Google Gemini models | Asks before purchases and posting |

Who should keep Gemini in Chrome
If you live in the US and already pay for Google AI Pro or AI Ultra, auto browse is part of what you pay for, and there is nothing extra to install because it is built into Chrome. If you work mostly inside Google’s own products, keeping everything in one Google account may feel simpler.
The daily task limits are clear and predictable, and Gemini also asks before purchases and posting, so you keep control of the important steps.
Who Tabrein fits better
Tabrein fits people outside the US who want a browser agent in Chrome today. You describe the task in plain words, in any language, and it opens pages in a tab of its own, reads them, clicks, types, fills in whole forms and can paste whole tables into Google Sheets or Excel for the web in one step. It works in the Chrome where you are already signed in, so there are no API keys, no accounts to connect and no passwords to share.
It also fits people who do not want another subscription. There is no daily task cap tied to a plan: you pay per step with credits, about 5 credits per step on Fast and about 15 on Smart. Credits never expire, and you can cancel a plan any time.
Limits of Tabrein
Tabrein is an extension, not part of Chrome itself, so you install it and sign in with Google, Apple or email. It cannot upload files from your computer, solve CAPTCHAs, or get around logins and paywalls, and it does not type into password fields by default. It works at a person’s pace, one task at a time, so big jobs take more steps and more credits.
While a task runs, the page it works on and your messages go to Tabrein’s servers and to Amazon Bedrock, which runs the AI models.
