AI email assistant for Gmail: find, summarize and draft without granting access
Most AI email assistants ask you to connect your mailbox and grant access to read and send mail. Gmail and Outlook also have their own built-in AI features, depending on your plan. A third option is an assistant that works inside the inbox you already have open in Chrome. Tabrein does this: it reads Gmail or Outlook on the web like you would, finds and summarizes messages, and writes drafts, but it does not send anything without your OK.
Built-in AI, connected apps, or a browser assistant
If your Gmail or Outlook plan includes built-in AI, try it first. It is right where you work and needs no extra tool. Connected email apps can do more in the background, but they require OAuth access to your mailbox, which some people and companies prefer to avoid.
Tabrein needs no access grant. It uses the Chrome where you are already signed in and works in a tab it opens or one you share with it. That also means it can combine email with other sites in the same task, such as checking an order in your store admin before drafting a reply.
What you can ask it to do
Find: “Find the last three emails from our accountant about the quarterly filing.” Summarize: “Summarize this thread and list the open questions.” Draft: “Write a polite reply saying we can deliver on Friday, and leave it as a draft.” Organize: copy details from a set of emails, such as order numbers or dates, into Google Sheets in one paste.
You can write the task in any language, and ask for the draft in a different one.
- Open Gmail or Outlook on the web in Chrome and make sure you are signed in.
- Open the Tabrein side panel and describe what to find and what you want back.
- Read the summary or the draft it prepares.
- Edit the draft or ask for changes, then send it yourself or allow it to send.
Ask Tabrein“In Gmail, find the emails from this week that ask about a refund. Summarize each one in a line, then draft a reply to the oldest one based on our 30-day return policy. Do not send anything.”
It never sends without your OK
Tabrein asks before sending, deleting or posting unless your message asked for exactly that. Tabrein Guard adds a second check: after the assistant clicks or types, anything the page would send is held until you allow it. Questions appear as cards in the side panel, and you can stop a task at any time.
Privacy and limits
While a task runs, the page the assistant works on and your messages go to tabrein.com and to Amazon Bedrock, which runs the AI models. Keep that in mind for sensitive mail, and use site blocking for anything Tabrein should never open. Chats are kept until you delete them, at most 180 days unused.
It cannot attach files from your computer, it does not run in the background, and it works one task at a time, so it is not a tool for bulk sending.
