Using an AI research assistant for price comparison on live pages
Comparing prices sounds simple until you have eight tabs open and a note full of numbers that already changed. Chatbots can explain what to look for, but their answers are not always based on today’s pages. Price comparison sites are fast, but they cover only the shops they list and do not see your member prices or business accounts. An AI research assistant that works in your browser reads the live pages, including the ones you are signed in to, and puts the results in one table.
Your options for comparing prices
Price comparison sites and shopping search are the quickest place to start and cost nothing. Use them first for common products. Their limits: not every shop is listed, shipping and fees are often missing, and prices behind a login (wholesale portals, member pricing, B2B accounts) are invisible to them.
An AI research assistant like Tabrein opens each site in a tab of its own in your Chrome, reads the page as it is right now, and collects the details you asked for. Because it uses your existing sessions, it sees the prices you would see when signed in, without API keys or shared passwords.
How to run a price comparison with Tabrein
Be specific about the product and what counts in the price. “Cheapest” means little if one shop adds shipping and another does not.
- Sign in to any shops or supplier portals where you have an account.
- In the Tabrein side panel, name the exact product (model number if possible) and the sites to check.
- List the columns you want: price, shipping, delivery time, stock, return terms.
- Ask for the result as a table, or have it pasted into Google Sheets or Excel for the web.
- Open the links yourself to confirm the winner before you buy.
Ask Tabrein“Check the price of the Brother HL-L2350DW printer on these four sites, including shipping to my saved address and the delivery date. I am signed in to all of them. Put the results in a table and do not add anything to the cart.”
It stops before buying
Tabrein asks before paying or ordering unless your message asked for exactly that. Tabrein Guard also holds anything a page would send after the assistant clicks or fills something, until you allow it. It does not type card numbers unless you gave them in the chat for that task. The decision to buy stays with you.
Limits worth knowing
Prices change, and what the assistant reads is what the page showed at that moment. Sites that show a CAPTCHA or block access will stop it, and it does not get around paywalls. It works through the same screens a person sees, one site after another, so comparing twenty shops takes more steps, and more credits, than comparing four.
A step costs about 5 credits in Fast mode and about 15 in Smart mode. For a quick check of a few shops, Fast is usually enough.
